Who we are
The Elbow Room (“we”, “us”, “our”) operates the website theelbowroom.net. We are the data controller responsible for your personal data. If you have any questions about this policy or how we handle your information, please contact us at emma@theelbowroom.net.
Business owner: you can add your registered business name, postal address and ICO registration number here if you have them. A sole trader using only their own name and home address is not usually required to register with the ICO, but you can check at ico.org.uk.
What information we collect
We only collect the information you choose to give us. When you contact us through our website, for example by completing our contact form, booking an appointment, or emailing us, we may collect:
- your name
- your email address
- your phone number (if you provide it)
- any other details you include in your message or booking
Our web host may also automatically record standard technical information such as your IP address and browser type in its server logs. This helps keep the website secure and running, and is not used to personally identify you.
How we use your information, and our lawful basis
We use the information you give us to:
- respond to your enquiry and provide the information or treatments you’ve asked about
- manage and confirm your booking
- communicate with you about your request or appointment
Our lawful basis is our legitimate interest in responding to enquiries about our business, and taking steps at your request before providing a treatment. We do not use your information for marketing unless you have asked us to, and we never sell your personal data.
Who we share it with
When you submit our contact form or email us, your message is delivered to our email inbox through our website hosting provider. If you book an appointment online, your booking is handled by Acuity Scheduling (a Squarespace service), which processes your booking details so we can manage your appointment.
We do not share your personal data with any other third parties, except where we are required to do so by law.
How long we keep it
We keep enquiry, contact and booking information only for as long as we need it to deal with your request and for a reasonable period afterwards in case you contact us again. We delete or anonymise information once we no longer need it.
Cookies
We use only strictly necessary cookies needed to make the website work. We do not use any analytics, advertising or social-media tracking cookies, and we do not track you across other websites.
Two features on our site are provided by other companies and will only load, and only set their cookies, when you actively choose to load them by clicking a button:
- Our location map (Google Maps), on the Contact page
- Our online booking calendar (Acuity Scheduling, by Squarespace), on the Book page
If you don’t click to load them, they set no cookies. This website also loads fonts from Google Fonts to display its design; when it does, Google may receive your IP address in order to deliver those fonts. Google Fonts does not set cookies on your device.
You can control or delete cookies through your browser settings, and set your browser to block them. Doing so may affect how some parts of the website work. To learn more about cookies, visit aboutcookies.org or the ICO’s guidance at ico.org.uk.
Your rights
Under UK data protection law you have the right to:
- ask for a copy of the personal data we hold about you
- ask us to correct information that is wrong or incomplete
- ask us to delete your personal data
- object to, or ask us to restrict, how we use it
- ask us to transfer your data to another provider
To exercise any of these rights, email us at emma@theelbowroom.net. You also have the right to complain to the Information Commissioner’s Office (ICO), the UK regulator, at ico.org.uk or by calling 0303 123 1113.

We may update this policy from time to time. Any changes will be posted on this page with a revised date shown above.
